KEY BENEFITS OF IMPLEMENTATION OF ISO 9001 QMS

ISO 9001 Quality Management System has a major misconception among clients or customers that is "what actually ISO 9001 certifies within the organization". Few people take ISO 9001 certification as a "Product Certification" which is in totally different in practical scenario(s). ISO 9001 deals with the Process within an Organisation and certifies that the organization is following the International Standards which are published by ISO "International Organisation for Standardisation". The certification is proof that you are in line with all the norm(s) and clause(s) of the International Standards. Now the question comes why people should implement ISO 9001 in the business and what the impact on the length based on the certification and implementation. Well, there are benefits of implementing ISO 9001 in your business but you should be an active player in Quality Assurance, otherwise having a certificate in your office will not get you anything. Moreover, the standards are designed in such a way that if you are not an Active player in Quality Assurance then you are losing your credibility and competitiveness in the market.

RISK-BASED APPROACH:


Risk in ISO 9000:2015 is defined as an ‘effect of uncertainty’. An effect is a deviation from the expected, which can be either Positive or Negative outcomes and in this standard ISO 9001 ‘opportunities’ can derive from either. Hence, ISO 9001:2015 refers addressing to both risks and opportunities at the same time and to mitigate risk at an early stage to increase the opportunity. And how to address both identify both within a finite resource and time.


One of the purposes of the ISO 9001 QMS is to act as a preventive tool. Consequently, Standards does not have separate clauses/sub-clause titles such as ‘Preventive action’. This concept is expressed through a risk-based approach to formulating QMS Requirements. The concept of risk-based thinking is explicit in ISO 9001 Quality Management System Standard and incorporated throughout its requirements. It does not advocate a Risk Management approach though, as detailed in the ISO 31000.
